We cannot express enough how highly important this is to us and how seriously we take the cleanliness of our studio as well as the implements used during application. Nothing is ever used without being sanitized and sterilized in a 3-step process. All staff members wash their hands and use hand sanitizer consistently throughout the day.
What should I expect to happen at my first appointment?
First your Lash Artist will assess your consultaion paperwork and decide if you are a candidate for this service to the best of their ability. No guarantees are made or implied. It is a very rare occurance that the Lash Extensions would not work for you! Your Lash Artist will then consult with you about many of the details you can expect before, during and after your service. Then its time for you to rest and let your artist to get to work on giving you beautiful lashes! Talking during the application process is not prohibited, client comfort is first and foremost, however you will most likely receive fuller and more even lashes the less talking their is during the service.
How long do the Lash Extensions last?
Professional Semi-Permanent Eyelash Extensions can last up to 3-5 weeks depending on the life cycle of each of your own natural eyelashes and other factors your Lash Artist will review with you during your consultation/appointment. As it is an individual process, we lose one eyelash almost everyday. We also grow a new lash to replace the one that fell out. These Lashes can stay on up to 2 full Months with proper care and maintenance. Though the average cycle of a single lash can range from 30-120 days, factors such as your eyelash characteristics, lifestyle and general care of your eyelashes will affect how long your eyelash extensions lasts. Sleeping on your face, extreme weather changes, steam, sauna, and other activities may damage the adhesive or crimp the extensions and may require more frequent maintenance appointments.
What is the difference in maintenance appointment costs?
We offer 2 different time frames to choose from based on how you like your lashes to look in between your maintenance appointments. The more time that the Lash Artist has with each client means more lashes will be applied in that time, on average most clients choose the regular maintenance appointment around 3 weeks time.
What are Eyelash Extensions made from?
They are made made from synthetic materials or humanely combed from mink animals, sanitized and prepped for your lashes. Each synthetic eyelash is applied directly onto many of your natural lashes, not to the skin (applied to one lash at a time). Lashes are weightless, comfortable, long lasting and water-proof. They look and can feel identical to human lashes with mascara; even better. You will love them. It is a very enhancing beauty service and you DO NOT need to use any Mascara while wearing these Eyelash extensions.
Should I be worried about my saftey during the procedure or does it hurt?
This is a very careful and precise service which requires a lot of skill. Our Lash technicians go thru rigourous training in order to be overly efficient at what they do. Please do NOT hesitate to ask lots of questions and ask to see certifications and/or licensing. Once applied these lashes are so natural looking it is difficult to tell even up close that you have extensions on. Also, It absolutely does NOT hurt! Most clients fall asleep and enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation
What kind of glue do you use?
Extensions are applied with a semi-permanent medical grade adhesive that in most cases will not irritate the eye, applied properly this glue will never damage the natural lash. However, since allergic reactions are possible, there are different types of glue based on one's sensitivities. These adhesives dry soft allowing lashes to stay flexible and bouncy. Because the bonding is to each individual lash and not to skin, extensions can last up to 3-4 weeks.
What are the most common types of lash extensions?
The great thing is you dont have to settle for just one type of lash, as your set can be customized to your specific wants and needs. There are so many types of lash extensions: synthetic, silk and mink, etc. Size availability ranges from short to very long and dramatic. This selection process will be carefully chosen and dicussed during your consulation with your Lash Artist.
How long does it take to apply lash extensions?
Applying a full set of lashes takes about 1 to 2 hours, and can be maintained year-round with touch-ups recommended every three to four weeks. A half set of lashes are an economical alternative to achieve a similarly dramatic effect, applied as filler to thicken natural lashes, or applied outward from the eye for a specialized look, this usually takes 30 mins and is very natural.
Will it ruin my natural lashes?
Not if you follow the instructions of your Lash Artist, everyone has different lashes; and depending on the condition of your own natural lashes, lash experts should only go to a certain length or thickness above your natural lashes. This is to ensure that your own lashes remain healthy! For example, if your natural lashes are on the shorter, thinner side, realistically you probably won't be able to get a really super heavy full dramatic look, without the possibilty of damaging your natural lashes, they won't last and you will probably be very frustrated with how yucky they can start to look when big clumps of lash extensions start falling out. Please be aware about this and ask your Lash Artist what their opinion is on this! It's better to start out with a half set (50 to 60 percent of your top lashes) if you aren't sure or if it's your first time. It’s easier to add more than lashes than to remove them!
Can the adhesive get in your eyes?
Since your eyes are shut the whole time Lash Extensions are being applied, no adhesive will ever get into your eye. To avoid any irritation let your Lash Artist know if you are feeling like your eyes are too open during the procedure.
Can you go blind?
No. The adhesive and lashes are applied in a way that is completely harmless. Your eyes are closed the entire time of the procedure. No matter how bad an allergic reaction may get, you will not go blind from this service. The worse case scenario is that you need to go to the eye doctor to get specific eye drops to treat an allergic reaction.
What happens when you cry?
If you experience any burning or discomfort during your service, causing your eyes to tear or making you cry, this is a red flag and you should definitely speak up. Your Lash Artist may need to change the adhesive, or adjust their application technique to suit your needs. Getting lash extensions should be a pain-free experience!
How should I sleep?
It is highly recommended to sleep on you back if possible, this will alleviate the lashes from becoming "smooshed" into your pillow (eye masks and silk pillowcases are highly reccommended and very beneficial for the life of the lashes).
My eyes are really itchy?!
If this happens shortly after your service appointment, there are a few options... you can take an antihistimine to help with the sensitivity you are experiencing, wipe down any inflamed itchy area with cool lint free cotton pads soaked in either witch hazel or distilled water this can help to calm the eye area. Appyling hydrocortisone can help stop the itch. If these are not solving the problem for you please contact your Lash Artist and ask for further suggestions to alleviate any issues. It could be as simple as recevieng a sensitive eye treatment after your Lash application to alleviate any symptoms all together.
Unfortunately, allergy season is the worst for us all, however, it can be espescially difficult not to want to itch, scratch, pick, pull and/or all of the above! Please take the advice of your Lash Artist and use recommended products to help alleviate the itchy feeling. If you feel that it is not just itchy eyes and could be something more severe please contact your artist, also advise your doctor is things become more severe.
How should i wash my face?
Exactly the same as without your Lash Extensions however avoid getting to close to the Lash Extensions with your face wash
Can I swim/go in the hot tub?
Yes! just rinse your eyes with fresh water after swimming in chlorine or salt water, or after perspiring in the hot tub.
What happens if my lashes fall out quicker than normal?
This can mean quite a few different things, is it allergy season??? Have you been rubbing your eyes more than regular or have your eyes been itchy and weeping more than usual? Are you using the proper aftercare to help alleviate this issue? Have you beengetting enough rest? Stress and lack of sleep will definitely have an effect on your natural lash growth cycle. Sleeping on your back (preferably using silk pillowcases or an eye mask) is very good for the lash extensions. Have you had a lifestyle change lately? i.e. working out a lot more, swimming/spa, tanning.
What if i feel like the Extensions arent a proper fit for me?
We always recommend giving the extensions a chance for at least 2 appointments before you give up. Take into consideration that there could be multiple factors that are contributing to your feelings that can easily be changed. (i.e. lashes could be too heavy, too long or there could have been some twisting or turning of the lashes)
If they were a bit itchy and got pushed around during a rub of the eyes, this can cause some of the lash extensions to twist, flip or turn upside down. Communication, especially about the style of lashes and the way you wanted them to look, may have come across different in the consultation than what you discovered you really wanted once you got home or even possibly what you received in the studio. Things like this can be very easily adjusted!
What happens if a lash should loosen or become dislodged?
Please DO NOT pull on the lash{es}. Contact your Artist to make an appointment to have them corrected or removed, to avoid damage to your natural lash. As your natural lashes fall out due to your natural lash growth cycle, you will need maintenance appointments as your new lashes grow in. At first you may find you need a maintenance appointment every 2 weeks. As you become accustomed to the extensions and with a little practice maintaining the lashes, the time between refills can be extended to 3-4 weeks.
What makeup can you safely wear with the extensions ?
We strongly recommend Arbonne Cosmetics, it is natural and plant based. Giving you a beautiful soft silky skin or eyelinerthat easily washes off with your lash cleanser. It does not break down the adhesive when used in moderation.
