Who is not a good candidate for semi-permanent eyeliner?

  • If you have an active sty or eye infection

  • If you have undergone surgery or laser eye therapy in the last 2 years

  • If you have a sunburn or have been in a tanning bed. Must wait at least 1 week.

  • If you are taking any blood thinning medication or using eye retinol. The eye area, especially the eyelid, are very sensitive and very thin already. This can cause bleeding, swelling, irritation, etc.

  • Anyone with a viral infection and/or disease that could disrupt the healing process.

Tattoo eyeliner is a very safe procedure, when done by a certified professional and licensed esthetician. It is usually a painless procedure, however, everyone’s skin reacts differently to inks and technique, so as a traditional tattoo, same risks apply.

do’s and dont’s

  • Do take time to rest- your eyelids will need some time to heal and relaxing and resting as best as you can will help you manage any soreness and help the healing process.

  • Do use ice to help bring down any swelling- wrap ice in a ziploc bag or paper towel and gently apply to the area for about 10 minutes.

  • Don’t apply makeup- this includes eyeshadow, mascara, and additional eyeliner. After the area has fully healed, make sure to use a NEW mascara wand to avoid bacterial infection.

  • Do book a touch-up appointment- typically 6-8 weeks after your first treatment.

  • Don’t go out in the sun as much as possible or use tanning beds until healed

  • Do use a healing serum- ask your artist for take home product or recommendations

  • Don’t rub, scratch, or pick the area.
